Azores experience November 2026
Reserve your place now to join me for 10 incredible days of guided hikes and delicious food in the Azores from November 23 to December 2!
Visit the amazing Azores (Açores in Portuguese) if you love nature and like to be the only one hiking somewhere. Contact me to guide you in everything you need, from places to stay, rental cars, local shops and supermarkets and of course where you can be immersed in beautiful nature with no crowds!
There are nine major Azorean islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean: Flores, São Miguel, Corvo, Pico, Santa Maria, Terceira, Graciosa and São Jorge. All have different characters, but are all beautiful, as well having the potential for changeable and wet weather.
These islands are best done as a solo traveller, a couple, or group of up to ten. Larger groups may not be able to cater to everyone’s preferences and abilities, as some of the hikes are steep and long.
You can arrange for me to be your in-person guide on any of the islands, or to be on call 24 hours a day to guide you remotely if you want to hike by yourself or with your group. Get in touch with me to find out more and take a look at my recent trips to Pico, Flores, Corvo and São Miguel below for inspiration!

Pico
Pico is the most striking of the Azorean islands, with its huge volcano, Ponta do Pico, dominating the landscape.
Hiking up the mountain, especially setting off in the very early hours of the morning to see sunrise from the top, is of course the highlight of this island. There are also great whale watching tours, a world heritage listed vineyard and many delicious local foods to try.
Make sure to also have a look below at the amazing islands of Flores, Corvo and São Miguel below.
Flores
Flores is the most remote of the main islands but it’s truly a heaven on earth, with lava pools, forest and a lot of waterfalls! It rains a lot, so you’ll need good shoes and rain gear. There are stunning hikes everywhere, and total peace with no one else around in winter. You can hire a car or just walk everywhere. I would recommend at least three nights on this island, but you could stay more and still have more places to go. Don’t forget to check out Corvo and São Miguel below.
Corvo
Corvo is the smallest island in the Azores, but it is a beautiful one with interesting history and well worth the visit. Ideally you need at least two nights on this island. On this winter trip, I was able to check into my accomodation in the early afternoon and do the Miradouro do Indio hike before the sun set, as well as the ridge at the top of the island after dark without seeing a single person. Come and fall in love with this magnificent island! Don’t forget to see São Miguel below.
São Miguel
Ponta Delgada in São Miguel is where you’ll often land on your way to the other islands, but this island has a huge amount of beautiful nature to see and experience! Besides the charm of the city and nearby hot springs, there are more remote and wild hikes as well as crater lakes, coastlines and waterfalls where you can go and see nobody else. You could stay at least two nights on this island and still have more to see.
